Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year 2020
Twenty is the Hebrew and Aramaic letter Kap “כ”. It is also the Hebrew and Aramaic word for the “palm of the hand”. Being that it is 2020 it is like two palms open to receive from the Lord. The number 20 represents the completion of cycles and the fulfillment of dreams. For example, Joseph spent 20 years in slavery and prison before he interpreted the dream of the cupbearer starting the process of his release from prison and his appointment to prime minister two years later. His father Jacob spent 20 years working for his Father in law Laban, to be allowed to marry his wives and earn the wages that made him wealthy enough to move out on his own and establish his own estate.
Ecclesiastes 3:1: “To everything, there is a season and a time for every purpose under heaven.” There is a time to sow, to attend to the garden, and a time to harvest. There’s a gentle expectation and excitement in the air. We believe this year is a time when some long-awaited promises of God are going to manifest. Like a flower blossoming, though expected, always a sudden and joyful surprise. Song of Solomon 7:12 “Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom– there I will give you my love.”
The word Kap in Hebrew is spelled Kap כ Pei פ. Jewish writings remind us that these are the initial letters of the word koach which is the word for “potential” and poel which means “actual”. The potential of the seed of God’s promise coming to an actualization.
In closing the Kap כ is a picture of a vessel that needs to be filled. We believe there is gaining momentum this year of people returning to the Bible in a fresh and intimate way. We look forward to a year of discovery and growth as we study the Word together. If you’re not already a part of All Access, please consider becoming part of our on-line family: HebrewWordStudy.com
