Aramaic Word Study – Ambassador – Izagada’ איזגדא Aleph Yod Zayin Gimmel Daleth Aleph
II Corinthians 5:20: “So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!” New Living Bible
As I write this the results of the midterm elections are still being tabulated. It is now four days after the election and we still do not know if the Republicans or Democrats will control the Senate and Congress. I know Christians who are filled with despair that there was not the promised red wave. As it stands now it appears the Democrats will control the Senate and they actually have a path to retain control of Congress.
How can this be? After all God is a Republican in good standing, how could he allow them to lose? I know what you are thinking. How dare I suggest that God is a Republican, that is absolutely ridiculous, He does not side with any political party. Yet, Christians sure act like the Republican party is the party of God. After all look at Luke 15:1: “Then drew near unto Him all the republicans and sinners for to hear him.” Ok, maybe I made a little spelling error there.
Let me tell you a little secret, I’ve actually met true born again Christians who were Democrats. I know it is beyond comprehension. Yep, right up there with the Loch Ness monster and the existence of aliens who have a base on the moon and are watching our every move.
Oh, but let me tell you something else that will shock you, I believe God answers prayer. That means that the results of this election are an answer to the prayer of thousands, yea millions of Christians who have prayed and fasted for God’s will to prevail in this election. You may think; “But I prayed that Herman Munster would win and he didn’t.” No, that was your head, mind that prayed that Herman Munster would win, your heart prayed for someone else and that person won.

Stop and think about it. Did you really pray that a certain man or woman would win an office? What you were praying for is that God would bring the right people into office who would guard our religious freedom, the rights of the unborn, the right to raise our children according to our faith and many other little freedoms that we enjoy. Our minds tell us that we need to have a born again, Scofield Bible waving, hated Maga politician in a certain political office when God is saying; “Hey, let Me do it My way. My ways are not your ways.” God is simply reminding us that we are ambassadors on this planet, that our home is with Him and we are just passing through this world. We are citizens of the Kingdom of God.
The Apostle Paul tells us point blank we are just ambassadors. Webster defines an ambassador as an accredited diplomat sent by a country as its official representative to a foreign country. Even Abraham who was given the Land of Canaan for him and his descendants said in Genesis 23:4: I am a stranger and a sojourner with you.” Can you dig it, here is a guy who would camp out in the very land that God promised to give him and he says he is just a stranger and sojourner in that land. Yet, he built his home, farmed the land, raised his family on that land. But all the time he was an ambassador of heaven who continually had the name of God on his lips. Everything he did he made sure that people understood he did it in the name of Jehovah. He would invite liberals, Democrats, people of a faith not like his into his tent, feed them, give them a place to rest and when they thanked him the Talmud teaches he told them, “Don’t thank me, thank the God Jehovah who created all that I shared with you.” He was a true representative of God.
The word ambassador in Greek is presbeuomen from the root word presbeuo which is an elder statesman and/or emissary. In the Aramaic the word is izagada’which is a runner who is delivering a message from a high authority or a king. That is us, we are running through this world with a message from our King, a message of redemption.
Now an ambassador lives in the land where he delivers the messages from his king. He may attend functions and cultural events of that land, but all the time he is doing it in the name of his king. If he takes a certain political stand, it is again in the name of his king. But ultimately that land is not his home.
So, I don’t worry and fret about the elections. I did my part, I prayed, I voted and I have faith that God answered my prayer as well as the prayer of many more of his people. I believe without question that the results of this election are of Divine planning, no matter who is in office and I will pray for those in office and support them so long as my King, whom I represent, is in agreement.
Now if some elected politician, be he Republican, Democrat, or Independent supports a bill to use my hard earn money paid in taxes to support abortion, that is offensive to my King; then that politician has just lit my boiler fire and you can be sure to find this ambassador on the picket line with a sign objecting to how he is spending my money.
