Hebrew Word Study – Your God – Eloheka Aleph Lamed Hei Kap אֱלֹהֶ֔יך
Isaiah 43:3: “For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.”
As I read this verse in the Hebrew something really exploded before my eyes. Note the words “Your God, Your Savior and Your ransom.” That word “your” is a dependent pronoun which is in the second person singular, so it is a reference to you personally. He is your God, your personal, your own God. Wait, As a second person singular that is grammatically incorrect, that word “your” is a reference to all human kind, it should be in a plural form, but it is not, it is singular. It is almost like He is saying that in His realm you are the only one that exist. In other words God created the universe just for you and HIm. Sounds crazy – no?
That is, of course, ridiculous, why there are billions and billions of people in the universe of God. But then being a great science fiction fan I have been reading about the multiple universe theory that is put forth by celebrated quantium physicists. Even Einstein contributed to the development of the multi-universe theory. His theory of relativity and his later cosmological model played a key role in the later development of concepts like the oscillating universe model resulting in the Big Bang theory which is a type of multiverse.
The multiverse theory claims that our universe may be just one of many, possibly infinite, universes that all exist simultaneously and that there may be an exact copy of each of us in those universes. It should be noted that this is just a scientific concept and as of this writing there is no direct evidence to confirm its existence although the particle collider at CERN claims to be very close to proof and some have even said it has already been scientifically proven.

This could explain this grammatical anomaly in this verse. That is that God has created us with our own personal universe. According to the multiverse theory, there could infinite numbers of universes existing alongside of each other. Picture it like having your own personal banker when you are seeking a mortgage. That banker will speak with you discuss your needs. He may do this in your present home. During this time, by law, he cannot share any personal information about you with anyone else without your permission. Hence it will be just you and the banker talking in your own home or your own universe. Unless you personally invite someone to share in your personal universe as you talk about your private finances, no one will be aware of what is going on. It is just you and the banker.
Now consider that God builds this house around you, let’s call it a universe. It is your own private domain and no one can enter unless they are invited by you. This would explain the grammatical anomaly of the use of the separable pronouns in this verse.
So what is the deal? It is this, if you invited Jesus in your heart, you have invited him to live with you in your own private universe. He is sitting in a corner, all by himself, nothing else exist in His time space continuum. He is all alone waiting for your interaction. The other day when I was driving my disability bus I drove someone home and when we pull up to her house there is a little dog sitting by a window just staring out the window and as soon as my passenger got off the bus, this little dog starts excitedly scratching on the window. Then he started barking. Then when she opened the door to her house, that little dog literally jumped into her arms giving her wet kisses. I could tell she wasn’t enthusiastic with such a warm excited greeting. I could not help but think of God waiting for us to interact with Him and how we get so busy and preoccupied we just forget about our “roommate.” We may throw out a cursory greeting, just to fill an obligation, but are we as excited to interact with God as He is with us? He has been alone in our personal universe waiting for us?
Tomorrow morning in our Torah Study we will look at things about the High Priest that you may not know that will support this idea of God sharing our personal universe. Join us as www.hebrewwordstudy.com
